Giving Is Deep-Rooted Value in Bahraini Society and a Responsibility Passed Down Through Generations

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), affirmed that charitable work represents an authentic and deeply rooted value in Bahraini society.

He said the culture of charity reflects the spirit of giving, generosity and solidarity that characterises the people of Bahrain, as well as the noble values passed down through generations, making charitable work an integral part of the country’s social culture and collective conscience.

In a statement marking the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5, HH Shaikh Nasser said Bahrain’s distinguished presence in the field of charitable work results from the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain and Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, as well as the continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He noted that this support has contributed to strengthening the values of giving and solidarity and enhancing the role of charitable work in serving society.

HH Shaikh Nasser said Bahrain has a long-standing history of charitable work, built through the contributions of community institutions and individuals and passed down from one generation to another.

He noted that giving has consequently become an established approach and one of the values that distinguish Bahraini society.

The Royal Humanitarian Foundation, he added, represents a model of institutionalised charitable work in Bahrain, with its efforts spanning 25 years and encompassing a range of initiatives aimed at promoting the values of giving and serving the community.

HH Shaikh Nasser said the International Day of Charity provides an opportunity to reinforce the culture of giving and encourage initiatives that strengthen community participation.

He stressed that the value of charity is not measured by the size of what a person gives, but by the sincerity of the initiative, its continuity and the positive impact it leaves on the lives of others and society as a whole.

He also underlined the importance of instilling a culture of giving among younger generations and encouraging them to take initiative and participate in serving their community.

Such efforts, he said, help ensure the continued presence of the values of goodness and solidarity and make charitable work a lasting social value throughout all stages of life.

HH Shaikh Nasser expressed his appreciation to every individual, institution and initiative contributing to the promotion of charitable values.
