Bahrain reviews AI and smart corridor technologies aimed at strengthening border security and speeding up passenger processing.

Bahrain is exploring advanced technologies to strengthen border security and improve passenger processing at Bahrain International Airport.

Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, reviewed the latest border-management solutions during his participation in the 21st Traveller Identification Programme (TRIP) Symposium and Exhibition in Montreal, Canada.

Held at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the event featured technologies including Smart Corridor systems and advanced tools to detect forged travel documents and biometric fraud.

Shaikh Hisham said Bahrain is keen to keep pace with technological developments and benefit from international experiences and standards to enhance border-management systems at Bahrain International Airport.

He highlighted the importance of improving security procedures while speeding up passenger processing, supporting global efforts towards seamless travel and providing a safe and convenient travel experience.

During the event, Shaikh Hisham also reviewed the use of artificial intelligence to examine electronic travel documents and detect image-morphing attempts, where images of different people are combined into one photograph.
