Social Development Minister: Charity and Humanitarian Work Deeply Rooted in Bahrain and Supports Development

Social Development Minister Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi affirmed that charitable and humanitarian work in Bahrain represents a firmly established approach rooted in the values of solidarity, compassion and generosity for which Bahraini society is known.

He said these values embody the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and reflect the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which have contributed to strengthening social cohesion and integrating efforts for the benefit and development of the nation and its citizens.

In a statement marking the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5, the minister said the occasion provides an opportunity to highlight humanitarian and charitable efforts and initiatives, raise awareness of the importance of charitable work and emphasise its role in serving society and creating a positive and sustainable impact.

Minister Al Alawi praised the leading role of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF).

He highlighted the significant achievements made in humanitarian and relief efforts, solidarity and social support through initiatives and contributions carried out by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation both within Bahrain and abroad.

The minister noted that charitable work represents an important pillar supporting social development efforts and enhancing quality of life.

He also highlighted the role of civil society organisations, charitable organisations and volunteers in serving the community, stressing the importance of continuing to develop the charitable work ecosystem and expanding programmes and projects with social and developmental impact.

Such efforts, he said, contribute to empowering beneficiaries, strengthening their capabilities and achieving sustainable impact.

Minister Al Alawi added that the Ministry of Social Development continues, within the framework of national legislation, to regulate areas of charitable work and support and empower civil society organisations to fulfil their institutional, social and humanitarian roles.

The ministry also provides technical and professional support and assists organisations in implementing programmes and developing the skills and capabilities of their members.
