Airport Roads Enter BD7m New Phase
A BD7.045 million contract has gone to a Nass-led consortium for the next round of road works around Bahrain International Airport, taking the long-running scheme into Phase 3B.
Works Ministry tender records show the job was awarded to Nass Contracting and Nass & Nassir Hazza Al Subaie Contracting.
The work is being paid for by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Abu Dhabi Exports Office under the GCC Development Programme for Bahrain.
The award notice does not spell out what Phase 3B will cover. It follows several rounds of work on roads and junctions around the airport, aimed at easing access to the passenger terminal, car parks and nearby airport sites as traffic grows.
The road scheme was drawn up alongside the overhaul of Bahrain International Airport and the opening of its new passenger terminal.
Phase One saw Road 2403, opposite the terminal, rebuilt and widened to three eastbound lanes.
A service road was also added for buildings and sites along the route.
Phase Two saw the VIP roundabout replaced by a signal-controlled junction, changing one of the airport’s main approaches and improving links with nearby roads.
Phase 3A, worth about BD26m, began in October 2025 with funding from the Saudi Fund for Development.
That work is being carried out by Nass Contracting with Nassir Hazza Al Subaie and Brothers Contracting.
It covers the Falcon Interchange, stretches of Arad Highway and Khalifa Al Kabeer Highway, and related road and utility works.
