Bahrain Parliamentary Delegation Delivers Opening Address at Youth Parliamentarians Conference

Royal support has established youth as active partners in Bahrain’s development journey, says MP Hassan Ibrahim

Member of Parliament Hassan Ibrahim, a member of the Bureau of Young Parliamentarians at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) representing the Arab Group, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the high patronage and guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, places strong emphasis on Bahraini youth and has established their role as active partners in the Kingdom’s comprehensive development and future-building efforts.

He praised the continued support and backing extended to the youth sector by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting that this support has helped expand opportunities for young people to participate and contribute across various areas of national development.

Ibrahim said Bahrain’s experience is rooted in a firm belief in the importance of investing in and empowering younger generations to play their role in building the future.

He noted that Bahrain’s history and close connection with the sea have helped foster a spirit of confronting change, serving as a motivation to continue building, safeguard achievements and strengthen the values of justice and human dignity.

Ibrahim made the remarks during his opening address at the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and being held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan.

Held under the theme “Restoring Human Rights, Justice and Dignity for All in Turbulent Times,” the conference brings together around 120 young parliamentarians and delegates from 50 IPU member parliaments, along with representatives from seven United Nations offices and a number of youth organisations and committees from parliaments and countries around the world.

Ibrahim stressed that the responsibility of parliamentarians extends beyond affirming rights and principles, emphasising the need to transform those rights from words into tangible realities that directly improve the lives of individuals and communities.

He explained that the right to education means equipping young people with the skills they need to build their future, while the right to participation ensures that young people have a present and influential voice in decisions that shape their lives and future.
