Pledge Stronger Cooperation
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received a telephone call from His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan, during which they discussed the longstanding ties between Bahrain and Jordan.
The two leaders reviewed regional and international developments, issues of common interest—including coordination at the United Nations Security Council—and exchanged views on efforts to support security, stability and peace.
NBR Cuts Review Request Time to 60 Days
The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) has developed its service for submitting review requests to the Review and Grievances Section as part of efforts to streamline government services and enhance procedural efficiency.
The service allows VAT-registered persons to submit review requests concerning violations of the Value Added Tax Law, excluding certain administrative penalties related to other NBR procedures. The enhanced electronic service has reduced the processing period from 90 days to 60 days.
The streamlined procedures are also aimed at improving the experience of VAT-registered persons.
1,329 Benefit from NHRI Programmes
A total of 1,329 people benefited from more than 40 training and awareness programmes and activities organised by the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) during the first half of 2026.
NHRI Secretary-General Counsellor Yasser Ghanem Shaheen said the beneficiaries included 624 males, representing 47 per cent, and 705 females, representing 53 per cent. The activities targeted students, legal and human rights specialists, government representatives, civil society organisations and others interested in human rights.
Condemns Attack on Saudi Tanker
Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh condemned the Iranian attack on the Saudi oil tanker Sidr while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in the deaths of two Filipino sailors.
Al Saleh described the attack as a threat to maritime security and freedom of commercial navigation, stressing that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of Bahrain's national security.
Mumtalakat Board Reconstituted
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, issued Edict (2) of 2026 reconstituting the Board of Directors of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.
The board will be chaired by Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and will include the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Adviser for Political and Economic Affairs at the Court of the Crown Prince, and the chief executives of the Economic Development Board and Mumtalakat.
The board will also include Khalid Amro Al Rumaihi, Samer Majid Al Jishi and Elham Abdullah Hassan. Members will serve a four-year term, with the edict taking effect from the date of issuance and to be published in the Official Gazette.
