MOI Arrests Chinese National Wanted in Fraud Case

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior has arrested a 40-year-old Chinese national wanted by authorities in the People’s Republic of China in connection with a fraud case involving the use of telecommunications and internet networks.

The arrest was carried out by the International Affairs and Interpol Department of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Cyber Security as part of international security cooperation to track individuals wanted in transnational criminal cases.

According to the ministry, the suspect was detained after an Interpol Red Notice was issued against him.

Following the arrest, the necessary legal procedures were completed and the suspect was handed over to a Chinese security delegation in preparation for his transfer to China, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The International Affairs and Interpol Department reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international law enforcement agencies and security organisations to combat organised and cross-border crime and pursue internationally wanted individuals
