Calls for Unified Anti-Corruption Action
Deputy Interior Minister stresses collective Arab responsibility in combating corruption and supporting sustainable development.
Bahrain has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening integrity, transparency and anti-corruption measures at the sixth Conference of States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention, held in Qatar.
Deputy Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel led Bahrain’s delegation to the conference, which brought together heads and representatives of delegations from Arab states party to the convention.
In his address, Al Fadhel thanked Qatar for hosting the conference and the Arab League General Secretariat for its efforts in organising the session and supporting joint Arab action in combating corruption. He also conveyed the greetings of Interior Minister Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to the participants.
Al Fadhel said Bahrain, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has established firm rules and serious practices to combat corruption.
He said the Kingdom has worked to adopt effective approaches and international and regional standards to implement agreements aimed at promoting integrity and transparency, supporting Bahrain’s economic and social development.
The Deputy Interior Minister also highlighted Bahrain’s appreciation for the work of the Permanent Open-Ended Committee of Government Experts and representatives of independent bodies, as well as the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention Implementation Review Team.
He stressed that combating corruption is a shared national responsibility and a collective Arab commitment, describing it as a key foundation for sustainable development and the rule of law.
Al Fadhel further affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to implementing the provisions of the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention and its implementation review mechanism, which he said provide an effective platform for exchanging expertise, strengthening institutional capabilities and improving integrity frameworks among participating states.
The conference reviewed several issues, including follow-up on decisions from the previous session and the development of the mechanism for reviewing implementation of the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention.
