EMIRATES UNVEILS WORLD'S FIRST ELECTRIC PREMIUM ECONOMY SEAT
Privacy screens, wireless charging and 4K screens mark a new era in mid-cabin travel
Emirates has taken Premium Economy to uncharted territory, launching the world's first electrically powered Premium Economy seat — complete with a full-height adjustable privacy screen — aboard its newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.
The seat, configured in a spacious 2-3-2 layout with just 28 seats per cabin, lets passengers raise or lower their privacy divider at the touch of a button — a first for any Premium Economy cabin globally. At 20 inches wide with up to 39 inches of seat pitch, seats also recline into a full cradle position without disturbing the row behind.
Packed with firsts, the new seat introduces wireless charging to Emirates Premium Economy for the first time, alongside USB-C ports, a tray table with built-in phone holder, and a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen for the airline's award-winning ice entertainment system.
Dining rivals Business Class, with gourmet menus served on Royal Doulton china with linen napkins. From September, select routes will offer premium Burgundy and Bordeaux wines, while October marks another milestone — Wiston Estate Brut NV becomes Emirates' first-ever English sparkling wine, exclusive to Premium Economy on UK routes.
Long-haul passengers also receive eco-conscious amenity kits crafted in cactus leather alternatives, featuring Aveda skincare — another Premium Economy first.
Since its 2022 launch, Emirates Premium Economy has claimed multiple global awards, including Best Premium Economy Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in both 2024 and 2025.
