Bahrain Joins UK-Hosted Ministerial Meeting on Climate Security
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a closed-door high-level ministerial meeting on climate security hosted by the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting was held at the invitation of Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.
Discussions focused on the implications of climate and environmental risks for international security and stability, including cross-border challenges affecting food and water security, energy security, economic stability and supply chains.
Participants also discussed strengthening risk assessment mechanisms, identifying shared priorities and advancing collective international action on climate-related security risks.
Bahrain’s participation reflects its support for international efforts to address the impacts of climate change and strengthen multilateral cooperation.
