Jerusalem: Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz, stated on Wednesday that Israel is ready to respond ‘with great force’ if Iran attacks the country, as tensions grow following more Iranian strikes on US military bases in the Middle East.

Katz stated that Israeli soldiers were on alert for a potential Iranian attack during the Jewish high holiday season, which begins in mid-September. He stated that Israel was prepared for both defensive and offensive operations, and that Israeli planes were ready to respond.

‘If Iran attacks, we will respond with great force, independently of anyone else,’ Katz stated at a conference hosted by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth.

Iran recently executed airstrikes on US facilities in Jordan, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq's Kurdistan area in response to US strikes on Iran. The escalation sparked concerns that the war may spread wider across the region.

Separately, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that if attacked, Israel would retaliate forcefully, but that Israel does not want to re-enter the war militarily.
