Cancer Care Support
The Royal Humanitarian Foundation has signed an agreement with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation in Jordan to provide financial support for cancer treatment and care for Syrian refugees unable to afford treatment costs. The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Dailan Al Doseri, Acting Secretary-General of the foundation, and Nisreen Qatamesh, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation.
The support will enable eligible beneficiaries to receive diagnosis, treatment and medical care at the King Hussein Cancer Center based on approved medical and social criteria.
Bahrain Hosts AMR
Experts from more than 25 countries will gather in Bahrain today for the fourth International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance and Infectious Diseases. The two-day event will bring together specialists from Bahrain, the Gulf and around the world to discuss antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases and the latest developments in prevention and treatment.
Kingdom Joins ICAO
A Bahrain delegation led by Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, is participating in the 21st ICAO Traveller Identification Programme Symposium and Exhibition in Montreal, Canada.
Bahrain’s participation supports efforts to develop a smart and secure travel system and adopt international practices in passenger processing and identity verification.
Chemical Import Service
The Supreme Council for Environment has upgraded its service for applications to import restricted chemicals, reducing processing time from 20 working days to five. The number of required documents has also been cut by half, while application forms have been moved online as part of a fully digital service.
SCE Chief Executive Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi said the upgrade supports efforts to improve service efficiency, data accuracy and regulatory oversight.
Obesity Drug Licensed
The National Health Regulatory Authority has licensed “Foundayo” (orfoglipron), an oral GLP-1 medication for obesity treatment, for the Bahraini market. The medicine can be supplied through pharmacies in accordance with approved medical guidelines and following appropriate medical consultation.
The NHRA said the approval expands treatment options for obesity and related health challenges. The licensing also forms part of the authority’s efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical regulation and keep pace with developments in medical and therapeutic treatments.
