Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, H.E. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, confirmed that construction work on the Sitra Housing Project continues to progress steadily, with 90% of construction completed in Phase Two, which includes 531 housing units. Infrastructure works in the same phase have reached 80% completion, reflecting the project’s alignment with its set schedule.

During a field visit to the project site, Minister Al-Rumaihi also reviewed developments in Phase Three, which consists of 1,269 housing units — the largest and final phase of the Sitra Housing Project. Work in this phase has crossed the 10% mark, with expectations for rapid progress in the coming period according to the planned timeline. The ministry had earlier completed and handed over all units from Phase One, comprising 1,077 housing units, along with the allocated residential plots to beneficiaries.

The Minister was accompanied by officials from the Ministry, as well as engineering and technical teams, during her inspection of the ongoing work and updates on the secondary infrastructure services across the project.

Minister Al-Rumaihi highlighted that the ministry's strategy, in cooperation with the Chinese construction firm CMEC, is based on synchronizing infrastructure development with construction work. This approach, successfully implemented in Phase One, ensures that units and plots can be handed over to beneficiaries as soon as construction is completed.

She also pointed out that Phases Two and Three incorporate improved housing designs, developed based on citizen feedback gathered through earlier surveys. Some units are also being tailored to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. The Minister praised CMEC’s collaboration and responsiveness to the ministry’s observations and ongoing development requirements.

Minister Al-Rumaihi emphasized that the progress seen in the Sitra Housing Project reflects the government’s commitment to providing housing solutions swiftly for citizens — whether through new housing cities or financing options and partnerships with the private sector. She noted that the project is a key component of the Government Program 2023–2026 and has been included in the national budget for 2023–2026.

The Sitra Housing Project is considered one of the ministry’s flagship initiatives, offering a modern residential environment complete with essential services and community facilities — including schools, health centers, shops, mosques, and parks — aimed at enhancing family stability across Bahrain.
