Vehicle count in Bahrain reaches 747,350 in 2023

A recent statistical report on the number of vehicles in the Kingdom of Bahrain has revealed that the total number of vehicles on the streets and roads reached approximately 747,350 by the end of last year.

The statistics encompass private cars, cranes, motorcycles, cargo vehicles, pickups, taxis, public transportation, and others.

According to the data, the number of vehicles has seen a very slight increase compared to previous years when vehicle numbers surged.

The total number of vehicles at the end of the year before last, 2022, was approximately 746,256. It only increased by a mere 1,094 vehicles by the end of the past year.

Private cars

Private cars constituted the largest proportion of vehicles in the Kingdom, with approximately 575,294 cars by the end of the previous year, 2023, accounting for 77% of the total. 

In 2022, the number of private cars was approximately 575,386. This means that the number of private cars did not witness any increase in numbers during the past year, but rather decreased by 92 cars, which is a very slight decline. 

The number of private transportation vehicles, including pickups, regular trucks, and lorries, reached 44,151, while private shared transportation (pickups) amounted to 32,900. Private passenger transportation (buses only) stood at 12,547. 

As for registered rental cars, their number reached 22,423 vehicles. Public passenger transportation (private buses) amounted to 65 vehicles, and there were 2,962 contractor vehicles (cranes/forklifts).

Additionally, there were 1,325 taxis, 3,306 cargo vehicles (pick-ups/trucks), 535 shared public transportation vehicles, 723 vehicles registered as diplomatic entities, 57 ride-hailing vehicles, 186 racing vehicles, and 7,459 semi-trailers. Furthermore, there were 274 tourist transport vehicles and 255 used heritage vehicles.
