In a swift response to a disturbing case of alleged domestic violence, the Public Prosecution has taken immediate action against a stepfather accused of physically abusing his two young daughters.

According to the Deputy Head of the Family and Child Prosecution Office, the Public Prosecution received a complaint from the Ministry of Education and the Southern Hamad Town Police Station regarding the incident that occurred at a government school.

A primary school teacher had noticed bruises on one of the girls' hands, prompting the teacher to question the older sister, who then revealed that both siblings had been subjected to severe beatings at the hands of their stepfather at home.

Wasting no time, the Public Prosecution launched an investigation into the case upon receiving the report.

The accused stepfather was promptly interrogated regarding the allegations of physical abuse, and the authorities have ordered his detention for seven days pending further investigation.

The necessary legal procedures are now underway to refer the case to the criminal court for trial.

The Deputy Head of the Family and Child Prosecution Office emphasised the Public Prosecution's unwavering commitment to upholding its national responsibility in protecting the rights of the nation and its citizens. She stated that the office will not tolerate any violations of children's rights or any form of harm to their safety and well-being.

"We will take all necessary legal measures to prevent such incidents and maintain family stability," the Deputy Head said.
