Thumbs up for Bahrain health sector achievements and early response to pandemic

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) President, Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has commended the unflinching royal support to the health sector.

Also head of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19), Dr Shaikh Mohammed said the royal initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, helps Bahrain overcome the critical conditions related to the pandemic.

This came as Dr Shaikh Mohammed met with the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) President, Eng. Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, and members of the Board of Commissioners.

They discussed boosting cooperation regarding issues of common interest, particularly on health and safety of all amid the pandemic, to achieve the desired goals.

Eng. Al Derazi praised the Kingdom’s health achievements and its early response to the pandemic by relying on the best national competencies and forming a national taskforce to coordinate the national efforts and lead all initiatives to handle the pandemic.

He pointed out respect an appreciation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and many countries for Bahrain’s remarkable endeavour to mitigate the pandemic and lessen its impact.

On behalf of NIHR affiliates, Al Derazi expressed thanks and gratitude to the national taskforce, ministries, public institutions, frontliners and volunteers who set a model in dedication and humanitarianism which will further promote human rights and achieve goals.

He stressed Bahrain’s success to meet all health-related human rights requirements, stressing the need to continue synergised national efforts to protect the health and safety of all.

Al Derazi welcomed them and congratulated them on the royal trust, wishing them every success in further developing NIHR which is considered a key tributary of the royal reform project.

The SCH head underscored the great importance accorded by Bahrain to human rights, including mainly the right to health which is stipulated in the constitution.

He pointed out the Kingdom’s keenness to provide healthcare for all without discrimination according to the highest international standards. Dr Shaikh Mohammed noted Bahrain’s efforts in dealing with the pandemic by providing comprehensive health services for all.

He also stressed the tremendous efforts exerted by the Kingdom to curtail the spread of the virus by stepping up the precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of all.
