Repatriation flight departs for New Delhi

An Air India Express flight carrying 179 passengers departed Bahrain yesterday for New Delhi. The repatriation flight was part of the Indian government’s Vande Bharat Mission, to fly home Indian nationals stranded abroad amidst the global coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
Among the passengers who were on board yesterday’s fight was one infant, according to the Indian Embassy’s social media. Several other flights are scheduled to leave within the next several days, bound for various Indian cities including Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Karipur, Kochi and Kannur. The Vande Bharat Mission has been going on since May.
