Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary meets UNOCT Under-Secretary-General

Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met here today the Under-Secretary-General of United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Vladimir Voronkov. 

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa praised the close cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UNOCT, noting, in this regard, the success of the workshop on protection of the non-profit sector from terrorist exploitation, which was held for the third time, in cooperation with the United Nations Office. 

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain cashes in on the important role of the United Nations in protecting international peace and security and combating terrorism, adding that the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is at the forefront of the world countries in facing terrorism at ideological, behavioral and financial levels. 

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports any responsible effort aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region and the world and welcomed the growing partnership between Bahrain and the United Nations in various fields. 

He also warned that some countries provide care and support to terrorist groups and attempt to globalise the phenomenon and spread chaos and instability, calling for quality partnership and decisive measures to confront the threat of terrorism and its financing. 

The UNOCT Under-Secretary-General praised the great and qualitative efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in combating extremism and terrorism, and the effective measures it has taken to maintain security and stability in the region, as well as to build distinguished partnership with the UN, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
