Government promoting small and medium enterprises: PM

ManamaHis Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday said that the government supports and encourages initiatives aimed at paving the way for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow and flourish, as well as to play a more vital role in serving the national economy.

Speaking as he toured the Al-Basta Market 2018 being held at “Gravity Village” in the Southern Governorate yesterday, HRH Prime Minister stressed the importance of highlighting the Bahraini heritage and informing successive generations about its richness and diversity.

This year the Al-Basta Market 2018 is being held at “Gravity Village” in the Southern Governorate, where he was informed about the market’s sections and displayed products, in addition to its recreational and social activities.

HRH Prime Minister highlighted the importance of holding more events and markets that provide an opportunity for productive families to promote their products, especially those with heritage products that reflect Bahrain’s genuine heritage.

HRH Prime Minister lauded the outstanding organisation of the market, which, he said, reflects the tremendous efforts exerted by the organisers over the past weeks, wishing the market’s officials and participants every success.

HRH Premier asserted that preparing the Al-Basta Market in record time proves the organisers’ competence and creative potentials, lauding the Bahraini youth’s ambition, perseverance and keenness on taking part in efforts to build a promising prosperous nation.

HRH Premier stressed the need to carry on holding events, programmes and markets that are similar to the Al-Basta Market, given their role in revitalising commercial activities, and importance in attracting tourism.

The Al-Basta Market, thanks to its diversified activities, has succeeded in spreading joy among Bahraini families, and in providing a platform for productive families to showcase their products in a distinguished location with a high turnout of citizens and tourists alike, he said.

HRH Premier hailed the civil society organisations’ keenness to support small and medium-sized enterprises and productive families, thus embodying the importance of their role in support of the government’s comprehensive development efforts. He emphasised the importance of supporting such events that direct the citizens’ potentials to be productive and contributors to developing society.

HRH Premier lauded the efforts of the private sector, represented by the Samhan Holding Company, which managed to build an integrated heritage village to host the market in the “Gravity Village”, which, he said, is a great sports monument that adds to Bahrain’s multiple sports facilities of which Bahrain is proud.
