Super Soccer ‘A’ and MYS ‘A’ win Women Sports fest titles

ManamaSuper Soccer ‘A’ and Ministry of Youth and Sports ‘A’ team were crowned champions of the Futsal and 3-on- 3 Basketball Championships, respectively, at the inaugural Bahrain Women’s Day Sportsfest 2017 held on Friday.

Some exciting and neck-and- neck competition were staged at the Um Al Hassam Sports Complex, where young teams battled it out in two of the most popular sports in the Kingdom.

In futsal, eight teams were involved in a well-contested tournament, but it was Super Soccer ‘A’ and Tekkers who made it to the title decider. The game was a thrilling affair between the two sides, and eventually it was Super Soccer ‘A’ who emerged victors 3- 2.

Hajer Al Ansari was declared top scorer, Dana Al Noor was the best goalkeeper, while Sama Amjad was the best overall player. All three received individual prizes.

The 3-on- 3 basketball was also well contested with more than 12 teams vying for the crown. The teams were divided into four groups, which was followed by the quarter- finals and semi-finals.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports ‘A’ made it to the final after a tough 9-7 win over Alba, while Ministry of Youth and Sports ‘A’ team defeated its ‘C’ team 8-5 to set-up the title clash. In the final, the ‘A’ team defeated the ‘B’ squad 9-7 to lift the trophy. The event was organized by ‘Out of the Box’ and under the patronage of Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, board member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and chairwoman of Women’s Sport Committee, and with the full support of BOC.

Shaikha Hayat, along with festival organisers and other officials, presented trophies and other awards to the winning, in addition to individual prizes winners.

Shaikha Hayat congratulated Bahrain women they have achievements over the past years, thanks to the continued support of His Majesty King Hamad and the kingdom’s government. She also noted the contributions of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Woman, and Thanked ‘Out of the Box’ for its remarkable efforts in bringing this event in cooperation with BOC.
