Bahrain MPs nominated for House panels announced

ManamaThe Kingdom’s lawmakers have announced the names of MPs nominated to be members of the permanent parliamentary committees for the final session of the fourth legislative term.

Headed by the Council  of  Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin  Ibrahim Al Mulla, the MPs are expected to vote in their next regular meeting to select members and chairpersons of the council’s five permanent committees -- Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, Public Utilities and Environment Committee and the Services Committee.

Members are same

Most nominated members of the committees remained the same as in the previous session. However, few changes were made and further adjustments are expected during the voting in the next session of the House.

The nominated list included MPs Khalifa Al Ghanim, Jamal Bu Hassan, Mohammed Al Jowder, Theyab Al-Nuaimi, Abdulrahman Bumjaid and Nabil Al Balushi to be members of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, in addition to Abdulla Binhowail, who headed the committee for the past three years.

As for the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee members, the nominated list included eight names, with an additional member from last year’s panel.

Nominated members 

The nominated members were: MPs Khalid Al Shaer, Anas Buhindi, Isa Turki, Fatima Al Asfoor, Majid Al Majid, Ali Al Ateesh and Mohammed Al Maarifi.

The nominated names for the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee were the same as the previous year and included Abdulrahman Buali, Mohammed Al Ahmed, Jalal Kadhim, Ahmed Qarata, Adel Hameed, Ali Bu Farsen, Dr. Majeed Al Asfoor and Mohammed Al Emadi.

The Services Committee is expected to include the former chairman Abbas Al Madhi, Roua Al Hayki, Osama Al Khaja, Dr. Jameela Al Sammak, Ali Al Muqla, Jamal Dawood and Isa Al Kooheji.

Similarly, the same previous members of the The Public Utilities and Environment Committee  were nominated for this year’s panel, including MPs Hamad Al Dossary, Mohsen Al Bakri, Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Adel Al Assoomy, Abdulhameed Al Najjar, Ghazi Al Rahma and Nasser Al Qasseer.
