Emergency teams gear up to restore rain-damaged mosques

ManamaEmergency maintenance teams were working in full swing yesterday to restore damages caused to mosques by the heavy rain

A newly revamped historic mosque in the Northern Governorate was damaged in the rains yesterday and the authorities were quick to respond and repair it.

Parts of the wall of Shaikh Aziz mosque in Sehla, which was undergoing major face-lift works, have reportedly collapsed due to the downpour.

The Jaffaria Waqf (JWD) Directorate in Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry confirmed in a statement that the damage was minor and was immediately repaired.

“A team from the maintenance department visited the site once the complaint was reported. The damage was immediately fixed and the mosque is open to receive worshippers,” JWD Maintenance Department Head Ali Mirza said, adding that “the damage in Shaikh Aziz mosque was less than other damages caused by the rain in other worship places in the Kingdom”.

Mirza called upon the public to report any complaint to JWD’s emergency team on hotline 80008898.
