Hopes high for Bahraini rookies

Manama : Bahraini motorsport teenagers Shaikh Isa A. Al Khalifa and Shaikh Isa S. Al Khalifa of Team Bahrain, have high expectations of more podium finishes in the second round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East at the Dubai Autodrome this weekend.

Both are making their full debut in the region’s leading championship and look to continue the success of the opening round. Shaikh Isa A. Al Khalifa leads the newly introduced GCC Porsche Rookie Championship and sits seventh in the overall standings, while teammate Shaikh Isa S. Al Khalifa made an equally impressive debut on his home circuit in Bahrain and holds tenth position in the overall driver standings and third in the rookie category.

For the Bahraini rookies Dubai represents both an opportunity and a challenge in an impressive grid of 16 cars representing 12 nationalities will line-up with only eight points separating the top five drivers after the first round.

The second round of the championship features nine new drivers all making their race debut at the Dubai Autodrome ensuring the outcome impossible to predict.

After the first two races newcomer Dylan Pereira (46 points) of Luxemburg will look to defend a two point lead over the experienced Ryan Cullen (44) of Ireland in second.
