Interior Ministry to step up fight against corruption
Manama : Interior Ministry’s anti-corruption hotline Nazaha (integrity) 922 has become a vital weapon for law enforcement officials in the fight against corruption, said Minister of Interior Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
The Minister also stated that the Department received 1539 claims of various illegal practices in the Kingdom.
The Minister made the statements in his speech marking the World Anti corruption day yesterday. He called for a corruption free society, while extending support to the international community to promote integrity and fight corruption with a strong policy.
“Fighting corruption is a top priority in Bahrain, out of the commitment to the UN Convention,which is a roadmap for the international community to fight corruption,” the Minister said.
The Interior Minister further added that Bahrain hopes to move up in the table of anti-corruption indications released annually by the International Transparency Organisation.
The Kingdom scored the 50th position internationally in 2015, while it was in the 55th position in 2014.
