Bahraini man drowns in sea near Sitra

Manama : A Bahraini man was found dead yesterday near the shores of Sitra. The deceased, who was reported missing on Thursday, has been identified as Abdulhussain Al Banna, 37. He didn’t come back home on Thursday after going for a fishing trip with his friend near the coastline of Sitra.

Interior Ministry confirmed the incident stating, “Coast Guard announces that a body of a drowned Bahraini man was found near Sitra Mehza beach. Police are taking the necessary steps.”

According to family members, he was suffering from a psychological disease and was already under treatment in the Psychiatric Hospital.

They said that he had told his friend that he’s going to rest in the car. He had been missing since then.

Coastguard officers embarked on a search mission in Sitra sea after his disappearance was reported by his family to police. No information about the man’s burial was available.

This is the fifth drowning incident to be reported this month, the third in three days and the second in Sitra in the past two months.

A 58-year-old Bahraini drowned in the sea near Al Dar Islands on the same coastline, less than 24 hours before this incident was reported. An Asian man also drowned at the Dry Dock beach on Tuesday. DT News reported on July 25 that the body of a missing Bahraini diver was found at the shores of Sitra Industrial area.
