Symposium a major hit at Princess Al Jawhara Centre
Manama : The first of a two-day symposium got off to a great start yesterday. The international symposium, held at the Princess Al Jawhara Centre Auditorium in Manama from 9am to 8.30pm on April 4 and 9.30am to 4.45pm on April 5, focuses on “Innovation and Societal Transformations” and is supported under the patronage of Minister of Education Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi.
Today keynote speakers – innovation experts, practitioners and thought leaders from around the world – will showcase success stories, best practices and share their experiences on four main issues: building the national system of innovation, developing successful innovation policies, innovation for business growth and eco-innovation.
Symposium President Dr. Khaled A. Al Ohaly and Symposium Chairman Professor M Dahmani Fathallah will be available to speak to guests.
The purpose of this symposium is to create awareness about innovation across the GCC region and to show how innovation can bring about positive societal transformations and how it can be instrumental in solving global problems and specific challenges in the region.
Professor Medani P. Bhandari, of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, expressed his gladness that the first day was going well.
“There are experts from all over the world attending this event today, including individuals from the USA, Japan, France, Germany and of course the GCC countries,” he said.
“This event is free to the general public, and we hope to attract young scholars who are interested in registering for our PhD programme in Innovation Management at Arabian Gulf University’s Department of Technology Management and Innovation.”
This symposium at Arabian Gulf University, in the Al Jawhara Centre Auditorium, also aspires to trigger inspiration and contribute to building a GCC community of innovation experts connected to the global innovators network.
Day 1 speakers were Prof. William E. Halal – Management, Technology and Innovation at George Washington University, Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah – Environmental Biotechnology at the Arabian Gulf University and Prof. Boualem Aliouat – Management Sciences at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in France.
The second day’s keynote speakers are Prof. Atsushi Tsunekawa – Professor of Arid Land Research Center at Totorri University and Prof. Michael Moore – Founder of the first American journal entitled The American Journal of Distance Education.
