Bahrain-Saudi Taxis Can Cross Causeway
Licensed taxis in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will be allowed to transport passengers across the King Fahd Causeway starting September 6, 2026, under approved regulations and requirements.
The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announced the move in coordination with Bahrain’s Public Transport Authority and relevant Saudi authorities.
The new arrangement is aimed at expanding land transport options and making travel between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia easier for citizens, residents and visitors. It is also expected to strengthen connectivity and integration between the two countries.
Fatima Abdullah Al-Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Services, said allowing taxis to cross the causeway will provide passengers with more flexible, safe and efficient transportation options while supporting smoother movement between the two countries.
She highlighted the close cooperation between the relevant authorities in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, particularly the Saudi Public Transport Authority, in establishing and regulating the service.
Taxi crossings will operate according to approved regulatory frameworks and requirements, with authorities in both countries coordinating procedures to ensure the service runs smoothly.
