Transportation Minister Participates in Gulf Green Mobility Forum
Bahrain, Oman discuss cooperation in sustainable transport, logistics and green mobility

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the second edition of the Gulf Green Mobility Forum, held in the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum addressed policies and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable transport while exploring ways to strengthen coordination and exchange expertise and best practices among GCC countries in the field.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed stressed the importance of further strengthening GCC cooperation and integration in sustainable transport and green mobility to support the countries' sustainability and carbon neutrality targets.
He also highlighted the need to develop a more efficient and sustainable transport system capable of keeping pace with future trends in the sector.
The minister underscored the importance of building on GCC cooperation in transport by further aligning technical standards related to green mobility, developing joint initiatives and projects, and making use of innovation and modern technologies to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable modes of transport.
He noted that such efforts would also create wider opportunities for public-private partnerships.
On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed held a working meeting with Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in transport, telecommunications and information technology, in addition to exchanging expertise in port operations, logistics, and the regulation and development of telecommunications.
The two sides also explored prospects for cooperation and the exchange of expertise and capacity building in green mobility, as well as initiatives aimed at strengthening GCC coordination and developing joint solutions and projects in sustainable transport.
