Under the guidance, instruction and support of His Majesty the King’s
Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council
for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President,
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Endurance 13 “Elite”
Team is back in action in Florianopolis, Brazil and Salou, Spain.
Team member Brent McMahon is headed to Ironman Brazil for the second
Ironman of his career after his smashing sub-8 hour debut in Ironman
Arizona last year and has just come off a huge training block,
building up mileage after his runner-up finish at Ironman 70.3 St.
George, Utah in the US.
He says, “I know I have the speed and race sharpness as shown from St.
George, and I now have the 5-hour bike legs and marathon rhythm
engrained.”
“I am excited for another Ironman challenge and I am approaching it
with the same attention to detail, but relaxed demeanor as I did for
Ironman Arizona,” McMahon added.
Another team member, Joe Gambles, will be simultaneously at Challenge
Salou, Spain, an easy drive from his new home base in Girona.
He says, “I really like taking part in challenge races and with the
excellent prize purse it was an easy choice.”
Although his preparation has not been as smooth as he wanted, Gambles
is back on track.
"My effort for Salou will be 100%. I have some very good athletes to
race this weekend with Timo Bracht as the main threat. I hope to race
up to my ability and if I do, I have a good chance to win.”
