Registration begins for Olympic Day run

Registration is now underway for a run to be organised as part of the
2015 Olympic Day, due to take place at the Bahrain International
Circuit in Sakhir.
This year’s Olympic Day is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee
(BOC) and is scheduled for June 12 when Bahrain joins other countries
from around the world to celebrate this special occasion.
Race supervisor Lounes Madene said the run will be held in
coordination with the Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) and is open to
different ages and will feature four category races.
They are a 400m race for those aged between six to eight years, 800m
race for the 9-11 years age category, 1.5km for 12-14 years all
starting at 5pm, while the adult race starting at 5.30pm is over 5km
and is open for athletes aged from 15 years and above.
Madene said registration is for free as participants who can log in to
the Bahrain Road Runners website: www.bahrainroadrunners.com to sign up
for the run with registration closing at 11am on June 12.
He said the races start at 5pm and everyone taking part should be
present at the race venue 4pm, one hour before the race start. All
participants will receive T-shirts with the Olympic Day logo, in
addition to other set of souvenirs.
The BRR will also be providing various facilities that are necessary
to ensure the safety and success of the run, such as first aid,
security and drinking water.
This run is one of many activities to be staged on the day in an
attempt to attract all members of the family to enjoy these events.
