Bahrain Joins OIC Economic Cooperation Meeting

Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the 13th annual coordination meeting of contact points of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Held virtually from June 9 to 10, the meeting brought together representatives from OIC member states to discuss ways to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation.
Al Dhaen said Bahrain’s participation reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with member states and benefiting from initiatives and programmes that support sustainable economic development. She also highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices in areas of mutual interest.
Participants reviewed progress on implementing the committee’s strategy and ministerial recommendations, while also discussing topics proposed by working groups for the 2027–2029 period and mechanisms to strengthen joint coordination.
The meeting further examined projects and programmes aimed at promoting economic and commercial cooperation among member states and explored opportunities to leverage these initiatives in support of shared development goals.
A training session was also held on project support programmes and application procedures, helping participants better understand available opportunities and expand avenues for cooperation.
