The Gurudeva Social Society (GSS), a prominent socio-cultural association among Indian expatriates in Bahrain, hosted the Education Excellence Award 2025 at the Carlton Hotel, Adliya, coinciding with Vidyarambham, the traditional day marking the beginning of education.

The ceremony, inspired by the vision of Gurudeva Sree Narayana Guru, celebrated educational achievement while spreading a message of social service, unity, and compassion.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy IAS, Principal Secretary to the Kerala Government Legislature, who delivered an inspiring keynote address.

Emphasizing the transformative role of learning, he remarked that “education is not merely a path to a profession, but a mission to embrace society with compassion and love.”

Students from the GSS family who excelled in the 10th and 12th board examinations, along with the Bahrain Island Toppers, were felicitated with mementos and certificates.

In recognition of dedicated service, teachers from the GSS family and the GSS Malayalam School were also honoured for their tireless efforts and contribution to the academic success of their students.

Contributions

As a mark of appreciation for its remarkable contributions to the Indian expatriate community and education in Bahrain, the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) — celebrating its Platinum Jubilee — received special recognition.

Adv. Binu Mannil Varghese, Chairman of ISB Executive Committee, accepted the memento from Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy IAS, while GSS Chairman Saneesh Koorumullil presented a certificate of commendation to the school. ISB Principal Mr. Palaniswamy, Secretary Mr. Raja Pandiyan, Board Members, and former Chairmen Mr. Prince Natarajan and Mr. Abraham John were present at the ceremony.

A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the poster for ‘Guru Karunya Sparsham’ (Guru’s Compassionate Touch), the Society’s new charity initiative. The poster was released by Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy IAS and presented to Mr. K.G. Baburajan, Patron of the Sree Narayana Community in Bahrain, Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awardee, and recipient of the GSS Gurusmrithi Award 2024.
