Plans are moving forward to install flexible barriers along a busy stretch of Avenue 13, near the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway exit, in a bid to curb reckless driving and enhance road safety.
The 300-metre divider, proposed by Fifth Constituency councillor Tareq Al Farsani, aims to prevent dangerous overtaking and keep vehicles within designated lanes, especially in high-traffic zones.
The proposal follows a recent fatal accident on the same road, in which two parents lost their lives and their children were injured—reportedly due to speeding and sudden lane changes.
Al Farsani confirmed that the plan has been officially submitted to the relevant authorities. He said it is part of a wider push to improve traffic infrastructure across the Fifth Constituency and supports national efforts to protect lives and ensure smoother traffic flow.
Authorities are expected to assess the proposal in the coming weeks, with technical and practical steps to follow if approved.
