Philippines Tacloban School Shooting Weapons Traced to Police Officer and Security Firm

Manila: Two students were taken into custody following a shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on Monday.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the firearms recovered from the two minor suspects a 9mm Glock and a caliber .38 revolver were traced to a policewoman and a security agency, respectively.

The 9mm Glock was issued to the aunt of one of the suspects. Philippine National Police public information chief Col. Allen Rae Co stated that the officer is now under investigation for failing to properly secure her service weapon and will face necessary charges. The .38 revolver was registered to a Cebu City-based security agency.

The incident occurred at 9 a.m., with police responding within two minutes to secure the scene. Authorities are currently investigating possible security lapses at the school, which had only one guard on duty during the attack.
