10th Woman Found Dead in South Africa Killing Spree

Johannesburg: South African police recovered the body of a tenth woman in a series of killings that has sparked outrage in Gauteng region and reignited worries about violence against women.

The most recent victim was found in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni municipality, east of Johannesburg. Police have not yet announced her identity or the cause of death, and forensic specialists are probing the scene.

The discovery follows the deaths of nine other women, mostly in their 20s and 30s, whose bodies were discovered across Ekurhuleni in the previous two months. Several victims were reportedly found partially or fully unclothed, with some showing signs of sexual assault.

Police are looking into whether the killings are connected, but they say there is no conclusive evidence that a serial murderer is responsible. Authorities are looking at commonalities between the cases, as well as the potential that different criminals are involved.

The killings have heightened concerns about South Africa's ongoing gender-based violence epidemic. Police have arrested people in connection with at least one of the fatalities, but detectives have not linked them to the larger case.
