Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with senior officials from the United States and Qatar to discuss efforts to maintain the fragile ceasefire with Israel and avoid a new escalation near the southern border. The conversations focused on sustaining stability and furthering diplomatic efforts toward a long-term peace.
As per official statements, the summit also discussed the need for Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon, strengthening the Lebanese state's role in preserving security, and coordinating international support for executing the ceasefire accord. Both Washington and Doha underlined their commitment to facilitating mediation.
The negotiations take place amid ongoing tensions, despite a relative calm in battle, with concerns that any violations could jeopardise the ceasefire.
