Medicine prices in Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council nations are on equal footing, confirmed National Health Regulatory Authority in a statement. The price list of medicines registered with the authority is available on this link: https://www.nhra.bh/Departments/ PPR/?page=102 NHRA was responding to an article published in a local newspaper regarding the prices of medicines in the Kingdom.

The authority said it is committed to following the decision to unify the prices of medicines in all nations of the council. “Accordingly, unified price is in force here in the Kingdom too,” the statement said.

Explaining, NHRA said that the GCC countries are calculating the price of drugs based on their shipping, transportation and insurance costs.

“This is added to the price by the importers, which does not exceed 35%, while in other GCC countries it may reach 45%, which is an internal decision of each country,” the statement added. On price differences with countries outside the GCC system, NHRA said they are subject to other factors in calculating the cost of drugs.
