Bahrain triumph in the Africa Open Championships

Bahrain’s National Mixed Martial Arts team have triumphed in the recently held 3rd IMMAF-WMMAA Africa Open Championships, topping the podium after amassing seven medals, including four golds, one silver and two bronzes. The event held on May 22-25, 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

On this Occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympics Committee has escalated his sincerest congratulations to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports on Bahrain’s historical achievement in Africa.

He stressed that winning seven medals in such a prestigious event was the result of HM the King’s support to sports and Bahraini sportspeople, stating that HM’s backing has positioned the Kingdom among the leading countries in the youth and sports field. He further added that this result reflects the extraordinary efforts being exerted by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to elevate the youth and sports area via the sketching of unique development strategies and visions in translation of HM the King’s instructions to empower Bahraini sportspeople to bring home important results that mirror the bright image of Bahrain across all fields.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Khalid expressed pride at the achievement of the Bahrainis in the event, praising the performances of the team in the event. Meanwhile, member of the Bahrain Olympics Committee’s Board HE Mr Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Khayyat congratulated HM the King and the wise leadership as well as HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa on this achievement. He said that with this victory Bahrain has now added two illustrious accomplishments to its history after Bahrain’s National Boxing team won Zayed Open Sports Championship in UAE.
