Fast-track projects

The Cabinet chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, gave directives to identify the needs of villages regarding basic services and facilities so as to include them in the government’s service development projects.

In this context, HRH the Premier directed the Housing Ministry to increase the share of the Sitra villagers from housing units through the implementation of more projects, and speeding up construction works at the East Sitra Town.  The Prime Minister also gave directives to hand over the keys of 500 ready housing units to the beneficiaries from the East Hidd Housing Project. HRH the Premier instructed the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Housing to follow up on service needs of the Jid Al Haj village, and to develop its facilities.

The Cabinet lauded the importance of the Bapco refinery’s Modernisation Programme (BMD), whose foundation stone was laid by HRH the Prime Minister, in the presence of HRH the Crown Prince, during a ceremony held a few days ago. The session stressed that the mega project will consolidate the efforts to develop the oil sector, as well as to increase the Kingdom’s revenues and boost oil investments, being a value-added project to the oil industry as it will pave the way for increasing its contributions to the national development march, a statement by the Cabinet Secretary-General, Dr Yasser Al Nasser, said.

Among other things, the Cabinet discussed and referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Committee a draft-law on volunteering to serve the public security, submitted by the Minister of Interior, under which the Interior Ministry will accept volunteers to serve public security, according to the conditions set by the bill. The move, embodying the principle of community partnership, aims to consolidate individuals’ contributions to serving their society through supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in this regard.
