Brothers jailed for planting fake bomb
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced two brothers to three years in jail for planting a fake bomb, disturbing the public peace. However, both escaped having their nationality stripped because they were not charged under the anti-terrorism law.
The duo landed in police net after a mock bomb, made of a dye pack connected to a calculator, was seen in a public road. Bomb experts were called to the scene to deal with what was supposed to be an explosive, and it was later deemed a fake threat. It’s revealed that the suspects planted the device to disturb public order and trigger panic among citizens and residents. The duo was identified after police officers lifted the fingerprints from the scene, and they were found matching the defendants’. It’s worth noting that the pair were tried before the High Criminal Court. And one of the defendants was sentenced to three years in prison, but his younger brother received a one year’s imprisonment.
