The First High Criminal Court of Appeal has scheduled June 21 to notify the ruling in the case of an Asian woman convicted of human trafficking and unlawful detention. Her prison sentence was reduced from 15 years to 5 years, followed by deportation upon completion.

The 32-year-old defendant was accused of recruiting a victim between August and November 2019 through a fake job offer as a food server in Bahrain. She reportedly arranged the victim’s visa and travel.

Upon arrival, the victim was allegedly transferred between locations and later detained, where she was forced into prostitution through coercion and deception. The exploitation lasted for more than a month, during which the defendant allegedly gained financial benefit.

The victim later managed to escape and report the incident to authorities. The Public Prosecution investigated the case, supported by witness statements and police findings, before referring it to court.
