Gulf States Attacks Raised at UN Rights Council

Call for compensation, documentation, and international accountability

The International Coalition to Counter Iranian Regime Aggression has called for stronger international accountability during the 62nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, which runs until July 10, 2026.

A delegation from the coalition, led by Faisal Fulad, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society (BHRWS), is taking part in the session under Resolution 61/1. The discussions are focused on the humanitarian, psychological, and economic consequences of recent missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran across several Gulf and regional states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Jordan, since February 28, 2026.

During the proceedings, the Deputy UN High Commissioner for Human Rights delivered an oral update outlining the broader impact of the attacks on civilians, regional stability, and international maritime navigation, including concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a formal statement submitted to the Council along with statistical documentation, Fulad stressed that attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute violations of international law and the UN Charter. The coalition urged the international community to issue a clear condemnation of the attacks, ensure thorough documentation of alleged violations, secure compensation for victims, protect global shipping routes, and strengthen accountability mechanisms to prevent impunity.
