Iran Confirms Peace Agreement with United States Following Months of Negotiations

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially announced that Iran and the United States have reached a landmark agreement, bringing an end to months of intensive negotiations and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the two countries.

The breakthrough follows extensive regional mediation led by Pakistan and Qatar, with support from several other nations. The agreement is being viewed as a significant step toward restoring stability in the region and improving relations between Tehran and Washington.

The Iranian announcement came as US Vice President J.D. Vance arrived at the White House amid growing expectations that a final agreement had been reached. Vance later confirmed that he would travel to Geneva to participate in the official signing ceremony with Iranian representatives.

Shortly after Iran's announcement, US President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement on his Truth Social platform, describing it as a major diplomatic achievement. Trump stated that the deal fulfills his administration's primary objective of ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.

The agreement also includes the lifting of US sanctions imposed on Iran, a long-standing demand from Tehran. In addition, Trump announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened immediately to maritime traffic without fees, a move expected to ease concerns over global energy supplies and international shipping.

According to Trump, the memorandum of understanding will permanently formalize Iran's commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons. He added that the economic pressure and military measures implemented by Washington in recent months played a role in bringing both sides to the negotiating table and securing the agreement.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the development, praising the successful mediation efforts and expressing hope that the agreement would contribute to lasting peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
