Trump Announces Reopening of Strait of Hormuz Following Ceasefire with Iran
United States President Donald Trump has announced that a ceasefire agreement with Iran has been reached, marking a significant diplomatic development amid ongoing regional tensions. The announcement also included a claim that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened for international shipping under toll-free access.
According to Trump, the agreement ends hostilities between the United States and Iran and allows for the resumption of unrestricted maritime traffic through the strategically vital waterway. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy transit route, has reportedly faced disruptions following earlier military tensions in the region.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
Trump’s announcement followed confirmation from Iran’s deputy foreign minister, who stated that a ceasefire agreement had been reached and would immediately bring an end to hostilities between the two sides.
