Nasser 10: Al Wehda edge past Al Abyadh
Manama : Al Wehda began its Nasser 10 Football Tournament journey with three points after squeezing past Al Saqr Al Abyadh 2-1.
Hussain Hameed, captain of the victors found the net for the winners on the half hour mark. After four minutes, the same player was brought down inside the penalty box and Khalid Sayyar converted for a 2-0 lead.
Late on Samoul Al Ser of Al Saqr Al Abyadh reduced the deficit to one goal, but the victors held out with a great defending performance to ensure bagging the full points.
In another match, Batelco Gunners United came from behind to beat Nomas 3-1. Fernandes found the net for Nomas before five minutes into the break, but the victors scored three goals within 17 minutes to seal three points and Al Nawayef defeated Forever 1-0 with a goal scored in the last 10 minutes.
In other news, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), thanked Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Company ‘Toyota’ for supporting the Tournament (Nasser 10) by providing a group of prizes for the attending audience, Toyota cars for which draws will be held on the closing day. He praised the company’s support for the tournament, indicating that the company’s backing would contribute significantly to its success from an organisational aspect.
Cars allotted as prizes will be raffled throughout the competition as follows: one car will be raffled at the end of the second round of the group stage, which is starting tomorrow and the second car at the end of the third round of the third round of the group stage.
Two lucky winners will drive away with cars at the end of the of the quarter-finals and two further for the semi-final, while four cars will be given away in the final match.
