Ministry outlines plans to improve traffic flow

ManamaThe General Director of Traffic has announced a new traffic plan, which will be in place from today until Sunday, as part of the Bahrain Grand Prix (Formula 1) event.

The changes will be effective on all roads leading to the Bahrain International Circuit and nearby roads, announced the General Director of Traffic, Colonel Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abduwahab Al Khalifa, yesterday.

The move follows the directives of Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

As per the plan, all traffic activities related to the race will be handled by a team of officers. Besides opening an office at the race site, the directorate has also deployed a team at the King Fahd Causeway to ensure smooth traffic flow.

To reach BIC parking

Head towards Al Muaskar Road and take Shaikh Salman Highway and Zallaq Road towards Awali. Upon reaching the traffic signal at the entrance of the Sakhir, drive towards National Charter Monument.

After the junction of Rashid Equestrian Club, pass through Zallaq Road to reach the Zallaq flyover.

Those driving under the Zallaq flyover will meet the traffic coming via the flyover from Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway heading towards the traffic signal of the University of Bahrain gate. They will also meet those coming from Roundabout 22.

Turn left towards Bahrain Bay Road with those coming from Zallaq Road and those turning right to the Bahrain Bay Road.

To reach the BIC parking lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, turn left towards the second traffic signal of Bahrain Bay Road.  Reach the second entrance for parking lots 6, 7, 9, 15, 16 and 10. Permits have been issued for each parking lot.

To deal with minor traffic accidents, approach the office at parking lot 10. For those with special needs, parking is available at lot 9, near the main gate.
