Ahmed wins BMMI Medal

Manama : Farooq Ahmed (nett 65) took full advantage of the perfect conditions as they were welcomed by blue skies, sunshine and warmth to win the Heineken Medal now in its 43rd year sponsored by BMMI last weekend.

The event looked in doubt  the previous evening following rain, but the 80 golfers were welcomed to fine conditions when they teed off in the morning.

In second place Ahmed Al Noaimi (nett 66, gross 71) on countback from Jasper Meinema (66), with nett 66. Ahmed’s fine performance was good enough to close out cousin Diab, both with gross scores 71, to win the medal which is awarded to the player with the best gross score of the day.

At the prize giving ceremony the Club Captain, Bill Scarth, thanked BMMI for their continued support and also bid farewell to Graeme Newport, a popular member, who is leaving the island after several years.
