Molestation: Three years jail term for teacher

A 58-year-old teacher private teacher accused of molestation was sent to three years behind bars after the High Criminal Court found him guilty. The man reportedly sexually abused two minor girls, aged 10 and 7, while they were receiving private tuition from his wife at the couple's house in Muharraq.

During his wife’s absence, the husband reportedly taught them.   The man was referred to trial after the mother of the two victims filed a complaint against him in police, alleging that he had sexually assaulted her children. 

"My children suddenly have become reluctant to receive private lessons. I thought they were developing lazy habits," the mother told prosecutors.

"I found several voice messages on my elder daughter's phone, which she received from a friend, who was discussing the sexual abuses they suffered at the hands of their private teacher's husband (the defendant). When I enquired, she told me that sometimes their female teacher won’t be at home and they were taught by her husband. He sometimes groped the two girls,” the mother added. 

The accused’s lawyer Fatima Al Hawaj earlier denied the charges. She claimed that the victims "let their imagination go wild" after watching too much television and surfing the Internet.
