Ministry distributes 200,000 textbooks to private schools

Manama : Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Noaimi said the ministry has distributed more than 200,000 national subject textbooks and teacher's guidebooks to the 75 private schools all over the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The books will be distributed by the schools to their students free of charge covering Arabic language, Islamic education, history and geography of Bahrain, education for citizenship, for the benefit of students of these schools during the new academic year 2016/2017. 

The minister stressed the importance of this step in the promoting the national and Arab identity among students, and the values and principles of citizenship. 

The minister explained that Legislative Decree 25/1998 pertaining to the educational and training institutions makes mandatory on private schools to teach Arabic language and Islamic education, the history and geography of Bahrain for their students in all three stages of schooling according to the curriculum taught in public schools. 

Also, Education Law 27/2005 makes it mandatory to teach education for citizenship in all private and public schools in Bahrain.

He also affirmed the need for management in all private schools to raise the Kingdom's flag and play the national anthem at the start of their school day, because of the profound effect in enhancing students sense of belonging to their homeland and the kingdom's leadership.
