GPIC inks major deal with Egypt’s Abu Qir

Manama  : Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has signed several key agreements with Egyptian fertiliser and petrochemical giant, Abu Qir Fertilizers and Petrochemical Industries for training, development, environmental research as well as exchange of experience and technical expertise. The MoU’s also covered environmental safety in the preparation of future projects between the two sides.

GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and Managing Director Saad El Maati on behalf of the Egyptian Company signed the deal.

The signing took place during the Bahraini Egyptian Business Forum organised by the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Commerce and in the presence of senior officials of the two sides. Dr. Jawahari was in Egypt as part of the economic delegation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jawahery pointed towards the rapidly growing economic ties in the new millennium and said market opportunities were increasing on all levels for Bahraini companies to benefit and expand their activities.

He said Bahrain remained the focus of attention throughout the world only because states are not measured in size and geography, but in the work that these states do.

Dr. Jawahery noted GPIC’s desire to strengthen cooperation with countries that possess world-class expertise in the petrochemical and fertiliser industry.

His Majesty’s visit has provided yet another opportunity to further solidify relations between the two countries, he said. The Bahrain delegation included ministers and leaders of industry, finance, trade and business. The results of the visit are expected to bring about many positive developments in terms of political and economic bilateral cooperation.
